HA- Hollow's Thanksgiving Assignment 2014

I'm really sorry it took so long to make and put up but it's here now! YAY!

Being a scarecrow, Hollow doesn't have many relatives. However, there are two people who he does consider to be his family; his creator and a crow called 'Bloody'. Since he hasn't seen his creator for so long (long enough for Hollow to forget what they looked like and who they were), Bloody has become more than just a friend who taught him about the world around him. He's become a sort of big brother figure to Hollow.

How he managed to convince Bloody to wear a little tuxedo and bowtie I don't know. (Most likely it involved a lot of bribery. Mostly to do with food.) The crow himself would LOVE to know who gave Hollow such a stupid idea about the suit.  (Thanks for the idea Candy-Leptic !)

Name:  Bloody ‘Nuada’

Bloody’s original name was Nuada before he met Hollow.  Since the scarecrow couldn’t speak Crow at the time and the fact someone had shouted, “THAT BLOODY CROW!” when he first met Bloody; Hollow believed that was what the crow was called. Although Bloody was unsure about being named by a scarecrow of all things, he found that quite liked the sound of it. By the time Hollow learnt what Bloody’s real name was, the crow had become accustomed to being referred to his new name. Even his murder now calls him ‘Bloody’. The only ones who still call him ‘Nuada’ are his parents and his siblings when they tease him.

Pronunciation:   ‘blood’- ‘e’  

Nickname(s):  Black Turkey

(Amongst the Halloween and Thanksgiving crows, it’s used as a playful jest for a crow who is greedy and who is starting look like...well... a turkey. Bloody refuses to acknowledge that he’s anything of the sort.)

Age:  Roughly, he is about 9 years old.

Birthday: 2nd April

Currently lives : The forest/Halloween Town/HA Academy Anywhere he can bother Hollow

Sexual Orientation: Unknown.  

Although he claims that he is irresistible to the females in his murder of crows, Bloody isn’t really interested in that kind of stuff yet.

Relationship Status : He’s a single bird right now.

Personality

Bloody is self-confident and head strong. He often acts before he thinks; causing trouble for him and for others. He is very intelligent and has a lot more knowledge about the world than Hollow does but most of it is from a bird’s point of view. Most of what the crow knows is guesswork, although he claims otherwise. (He was surprised to find that forks are for eating food with, not for combing your feathers.) However, that doesn’t stop him sounding convincing enough for Hollow to believe him. 

Since Bloody was the biggest chick in the nest when he hatched, he gets a lot of jokes about his weight which irritates him to no end and becomes very sulky about it. It does not help that he is rather greedy and will take full advantage of any opportunity to get food. Bloody isn’t really picky but he likes sweet things and gooey eyeballs. (He has been known to use the ‘I’ve-never-been-fed’ look on unwary, kind hearted people. He has no shame.)  

The crow does like a laugh and a joke though, especially if it has anything to do human stupidity.  But it’s more mischievous rather than anything malicious. Bloody can be quite a softy towards those he cares about. (He will deny it all however and you can’t prove anything.)   

Likes:

    ·         Food, especially gooey eyeballs and anything sweet.

    ·         A good laugh and a joke (As long as it isn’t aimed at his size.)

    ·         Charming the female bird population

    ·         His immediate family and his murder (The flock of crows he belongs to.)

    ·         Maggots (They’re....well....they’re just gross looking.)

    ·         When people get wise to his tricks to get extra food and not getting any

    ·         Being made fun of because  of his weight

    ·         The noisiness of his murder, especially his immediate family (His siblings are the noisiest bunch of chatterboxes.) 

    ·         Being proven wrong about what he thinks is right. (It’s not HIS fault if he sometimes gets it wrong.)

Hobbies:  Eating, Flirting with the female birds, Pranks, Making fun of the stupid things humans do,  Guessing what things are for, Bothering Hollow.

Powers/Abilities:

Bloody is surprisingly a good teacher since Hollow is fluent in crow language and can interchange between English and Crow with ease. Thanks to him being slightly bigger than the other crows, it makes any rival crows think twice about taking food from him or from picking on Hollow.  He also has a lot more stamina for flying than the other birds in the murder.

Weaknesses/Bad Habits:

If there is any sort of party with food, Bloody would gorge himself until he becomes heavy to fly. Plus, he doesn’t think twice about giving the ‘poor little me’ act to anyone if it means he gets food. Bloody is also quite headstrong and will fly into a situation without thinking.

Life Story:

Bloody was the last chick to hatch out of his egg after his two sisters. He was the biggest chick out of the clutch and had a bigger appetite. He was the first to learn how to fly although he wasn’t the fastest flyer. However, as he got older, he soon compensated for his lack of speed with his stamina and his opportunistic nature, enabling him devise a way of getting what he wanted without getting caught. This also helped him play tricks upon people from both the human world and Halloween Town. 

One autumn day, he managed to steal an eyeball from a zombie who chased him to the outskirts of town. Feeling very pleased with himself, he flew on over the fields until he spotted a scarecrow near the rickety fences that ran along the land. Knowing that the only living scarecrows that moved dwelt on the other side of the town, Bloody thought it must have been a Halloween decoration. He descended and landed on the thing’s shoulder, getting ready to eat his prize. Before he could however, the scarecrow’s pumpkin head turned to him and had said hello to him.

The action caused Bloody fly off in a panic, dropping the eyeball. He would have headed straight home if it wasn’t for the effigy calling him back, with the eyeball in its glove. Bloody returned and landed a few metres away; he was still wary as the other scarecrows would try to chase them away from the fields they protected. However, after he introduced himself as Hollow, the crow began to realise that this scarecrow wasn’t trying to scare him. Once he got his eyeball back and swallowed it, Bloody stayed for a while as he got curious about Hollow and why he was in this field instead of being with the other scarecrows. It was around this time he got his new name.

Over next few weeks, Bloody would visit Hollow frequently after foraging for food and the pair soon became good friends. He soon started to learn that the scarecrow was all alone and had no one to talk to. The crow, who had been surrounded by his family and flock for all his life, couldn’t imagine how lonely Hollow must have been.  He resolved to at least teach the scarecrow how to speak crow language so that Hollow would have someone to talk to. Bloody was there to for Hollow after his disastrous first visit to Halloween Town and was also the one to coax him back when Hollow was torn between returning to the fields and staying in the town. Although he encouraged the scarecrow when he wanted to learn to read, Bloody can’t really get the hang of it. Not that he would admit to that.

Family:

Bloody’s parents are called ‘Dmitri’ (his father) and ‘Laudine’ (his mother). His sisters are called ‘Kata’ and ‘Lalla’. Bloody also considers Hollow as part of the family now. He hasn’t gotten round to telling his parents that though..... He also has a lot of relatives, most he can’t name. Bloody does also have a few cousins from Thanksgiving Town. When he visits, they all go and bother a lady who seems to be just as crow like as they are.

Friends: 

Most of the friends he has are with crows from his murder. Hollow was the first non-crow friend he made and since tagging along to the Holidays Academy, he’s met a few people like Mint, an Christmas elf who gave him cake after finding him eating off her plate of food. He hopes that he’ll find more people who haven’t worked out that he isn’t really starving.

Fears/phobias:

When he was younger, one of sisters told him a story of how a crow ate a creepy rotting maggot and had laid an egg that was filled with live maggots. Bloody had nightmares filled with slimy things for several weeks. He won’t admit that he is scared of them though.

The crow is also terrified of losing his wings and being able to fly.

Taste in music:

Surprisingly, cawing isn’t really music Bloody enjoys. He does like the singing from the concerts that sometimes happen in Halloween Town. He’s also likes folk songs as he is the only person who Hollow is comfortable singing in front of.

Disliked food:  Maggots

Disliked drinks: None; Bloody is willing to try anything once.

Current job title and description:  Scary Halloween crow? (Is that even a job?)

Peaceful or aggressive attitude? Aggressive. He friendly most of the time though.

Weapon of choice (if any):  Mainly he’ll use his sharp beak and claws. Also, a big black bird dive bombing you is pretty scary.

Extra:
After learning that Hollow’s creator had left him and had never returned, Bloody doesn’t have a high opinion of whoever it was and thinks they are a jerk. He hasn’t said anything to Hollow in case of hurting the scarecrow’s feelings.
